
New England Chamber Orchestra principal trumpet Joel Baroody began his professional career in 2011 with the United States Coast Guard Band, where he has served as principal trumpet since 2017. A sought-after freelancer, he has performed with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, Boston Lyric Opera, Cape Symphony, New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, Sean Nelson's New London Big Band, and others. He also maintains an active trumpet studio along the Connecticut shoreline.
Joel was chief editor for three trumpet method books by Phil Snedecor, James Ackley, and Bryce Call. In 2014, he co-founded Monster Oil, a musical instrument accessories company focused on educational branding and instrument maintenance awareness. Monster Oil's interview series, Brass Chats, has amassed over 1.1 million YouTube views and 85,000 hours of watch time.
He earned a Bachelor of Music in trumpet performance and the Arthur Fraser Award from the University of South Carolina’s Honors College in 2008, followed by a Master of Music from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 2010. His principal teachers include Alan Siebert, Phil Collins, James Ackley, and Ed Cooper, with additional studies under David Bilger and Robert Sullivan.
Beyond music, Joel enjoys all sports but especially golf, home projects, and spending quality time with his two young children and brilliant wife Abby, an acclaimed opera/musical theater crossover performer.
