Violinist Jamie Andrusyak is a versatile freelance artist, performer, and educator based in southeastern Connecticut. She has been a member of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra since August 2023 and the Eastern Connecticut Symphony since February 2024. She has performed throughout Connecticut with ensembles including the Greater Bridgeport Symphony, Wallingford Symphony, Choate Summer Music Festival Orchestra, and the New Haven Symphony Orchestra.
Before her time in Connecticut, Jamie was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. Her professional experience also included performances with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and a collaboration with Yo-Yo Ma during Civic’s annual Bach Marathon and Civic’s Centennial Celebration concert, which was broadcast live on WFMT.
She currently teaches as an orchestra coach at Connecticut College and is a private violin teacher at Thames Valley Music School. In addition to her violin pursuits, Jamie also plays as principal oboe with the Connecticut Symphony Orchestra and manages an oboe reed business at www.oboeduck.com.
Jamie has received a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Indiana University (with teachers Jaime Laredo and Alexander Kerr), and a master’s degree in performance from Northwestern University (Desiree Ruhstrat). She also holds a solo performance diploma (Kevork Mardirossian) from Indiana University. In her free time, she loves to cook delicious Korean meals and cuddle her 2 cats Bocal & Lilly.
