Kyle Thompson is currently the Associate Principal Horn of the United States Coast Guard Band based in Connecticut.
He has performed with renowned ensembles such as the Philadelphia Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, and the Naples Philharmonic. Previous engagements include two years as a fellow at the New World Symphony in Miami and spending summers as a fellow at the Music Academy of the West.
Kyle holds a Bachelor of Music from Northwestern University where he studied with Gail Williams and Jon Boen. He went on to receive a Master of Music degree from the Yale School of Music, studying with William Purvis. In addition to his private studies, Kyle also had opportunities to be mentored by Greg Miller of Empire Brass and Dan Gingrich of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Kyle is an active recitalist and enjoys showcasing works for the natural horn and Wagner Tuba. He has extensive chamber music experience with an emphasis on the woodwind quintet repertoire.
